People are worried about the president’s mental health. After all, some of Donald Trump’s actions are pretty bizarre, like when he becomes enraged and yells at his top staffers for hours at a time or when he plays nuclear chicken with North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un. What if the problem is not malignant narcissism but something far worse? Even his close friends are worried.
Experts have compared the way 45 has spoken over the past 30 years and noticed some remarkably serious changes. New York psychologist and New York University (NYU) adjunct professor, John Montgomery, told Vanity Fair this about Trump’s brain:
‘It’s hard to say definitively without rigorous testing of Trump’s speaking patterns. but I think it’s pretty safe to say that Trump has had significant cognitive decline over the years.’
The president held a major executive order signing ceremony Thursday morning that undermines important insurance regulations in the Affordable Care Act (ACA/Obamacare). Trump gave his scripted speech, shook hands, and for the second time since he became president nine months ago, he made a significant mistake. He forgot to sign the executive order.
One of Vice President Mike Pence’s primary functions must be caretaker. As Trump turned to leave, the VP tapped the president’s arm and told him to go back and finish the job. Pence was there last spring when Trump did the same thing. He forgot to sign an American trade policy executive order.
Trump turned 71-years-old on Flag Day (June 14th) with little fanfare. Montgomery told Vanity Fair that it would be difficult to determine whether the president’s actions were due to factors like emotional upheaval or stress, but they could be:
‘An indication of dementia, of normal cognitive decline that many people experience as they age.’
The president’s executive order is supposed to let small businesses and perhaps individuals buy health insurance outside of the ACA regulations. Trump noted that he would accomplish what the Republicans in Congress failed to do. His order lets some people purchase cheaper insurance with less coverage.
There are many critics of Trump’s plan, including the health-insurance industry, state insurance commissioners, and health care policy experts. They anticipate it will cause people with grave conditions to pay far more for their insurance and reduce the number of insurers.
The president’s plan may not even be legal.
